April Monthly Seminar
April 24 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Date: Friday, April 24
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Featured Projects:
Come learn about:
1. SEED-GS: Sustainable Ecosystems & Environmental Dynamics: Genomics & Systems Biology for Resilient Agriculture
Soybeans, one of the world’s economically most important crops, is being affected by a change in the Earth’s climate. Our project uses plant genetics, hyperspectral imaging, and computer models to discover how crops such as soybeans respond to environmental stressors. These insights can help develop resilient varieties and farming techniques that would secure future food supplies in a changing climate.

2. Woniya Wichoni
Discover how the Woniya Wichoni project uses a network of affordable sensors to help the Standing Rock community in North Dakota monitor air quality in real time. Explore our mobile app, Wóophe, which transforms environmental data into simple, accessible information that empowers residents to better understand and protect their health.

3. FOODI: Facilitating Overcoming Obstacles to the Development and Integration of Modern Technologies for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)
FOODI is a research mission dedicated to securing humanity’s food independence through data-driven indoor farming. While the agricultural industry already has plenty of advanced standalone technology, it currently struggles with how to make all these different physical and software components work together effectively. FOODI exists to solve this exact “integration” problem by figuring out how to successfully connect and automate existing tools into unified, highly efficient systems.
